A patent is an exclusive right granted for an invention - which is a particular solution to the problem of a technical nature - which is new, has an inventive step and susceptible of industrial application.
Patents are granted for a period of 20 years from the date of filing, subject to timely payment of fees for various periods of protection. The patent is related to a particular territory.
